Rob was recruited onto the S-Press real-world NHS evaluation in January 2024, after 7 months in hospital. He had unfortunately acquired an infection in his new knee replacement and had needed to have several revision surgeries and then an antibiotic spacer put in the joint space to attempt to clear the stubborn infection. Rob had an incredibly unstable knee because of these procedures and problems and was not able to do standard physiotherapy exercises due to this. He began using the S-Press in his room daily from his wheelchair, diligently doing 60 repetitions on each leg and gradually increasing in his resistance level ability. He was not receiving any other therapy at this time as he was in isolation with c-diff and the physios had assessed his knee as too unstable to begin standing. After using the S-Press independently for 3 months, Rob had gone from being transferred with a hoist and 2 to walking with a gutter frame and 2 a short distance. He had improved enough to be able to go home and was referred to Intermediate Care to continue his progress to independent mobility. Both Rob and his wife credit the S-Press with enabling him to get back on his feet again, restoring much needed hope and getting him home.
